Rosalyn Kutchins

Glass Artist

I love working with glass. After 30 years in the industrial glass industry, I now focus on its artistic possibilities. My studio is beside my home on Broad Creek in Oriental, North Carolina.

My journey into traditional lampworking began with a beginner’s class in New Bern 18 years ago. Working with an oxygen and propane tabletop torch, I create pieces inspired by the nature around me. I continue to develop my skills through workshops and tutorials with glass artists in Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Arizona.

Each piece is kiln annealed for strength and accented with silver, copper, or gold findings and semiprecious stones.

You can find my work at Broad Strokes Gallery in Oriental, The Potters Market in Alliance, and Community Artists Gallery & Studios in New Bern. I have also participated in shows across North Carolina and in Richmond, Virginia, including Art Under the Oaks, the Old Front Porch Music Festival, Boylan Heights ArtWalk, Spring Daze, and Art for the Heart.

My awards include first place in glass at GFWC Raleigh in 2015 and 2016, third place in fine art at Art Under the Oaks in 2019, and second place in jewelry at Art Under the Oaks in 2021 and 2023.
